The University Hall Alumni Association also known as Katanga Hall Alumni Association, have welcomed the setting up an independent committee by Asantehene to probe the circumstances that led to students riots on campus in October last year.

According to them, it is in fulfilment of a promise made by Otumfuo Osei Tutu when executives of the Alumni paid a courtesy call on him a month after the incident.

In a statement signed by the President of the University Hall Alumni Association, Charles Dontoh said the Association is hopeful that the committee, made up of accomplished professionals, will prescribe effective recommendations to forestall future occurrences related to issues that contributed to the unfortunate incident in October last year.

These should include the non-consultative approach to problem solving, the dictatorial conversion of single-gender halls to mixed ones and unbridled and unprovoked physical assault of students.

The statement admonished the University Administration to acknowledge the independence of the Committee rather than stampede it in attempting to influence its members.
