Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has called on Ghana to draw important lessons from its previous World Cup experiences as the Black Stars gear up for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking on Asempa FM after Ghana secured qualification, Adams highlighted the significance of proper preparation to maximize the benefits of the global event.

Ghana clinched their place in the 2026 tournament with a 1-0 win over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, thanks to a goal from Mohammed Kudus.

Finishing top of Group I with 25 points, the victory confirmed the nation’s fifth appearance in football’s premier competition since their debut in 2006.

Adams, who is also the Member of Parliament for Buem, stressed that the World Cup presents an extraordinary opportunity for Ghana to showcase its culture, hospitality, and national pride on a world stage.

He emphasized that success beyond the pitch depends on carefully managing all aspects, including organization and the country’s global image.

Reflecting on past World Cups, specifically 2006, 2010, 2014, and 2022, the minister urged all stakeholders to collaborate and avoid repeating previous mistakes.

“We should go to the World Cup and represent Ghana well, and this should involve everybody,” Kofi Adams said.

With the official draw for the tournament set for December 5, 2025, in Washington, D.C., preparations have become the Black Stars’ top priority.

The nation now looks to build on its historic successes and ensure a strong performance on the international stage next year.
