The Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Okraku, says his administration has placed premium on ensuring that the Technical Directorate functions effectively and that all activities will be carried out at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram.

Kurt was speaking in an interview on an Accra based radio station where he addressed the need for the Technical Directorate of the Football Association to be effective which will ensure the development of football from the grassroots to the senior level.

According to him, the Football Association is looking at empowering the Technical Directorate in the area of personnel and logistics as well as establishing a scouting unit to feed the various national teams.

“We will also place premium on improving the Technical Directorate which has been moved to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence,” he said.

“The FA is looking at a fully functional Technical Directorate with a scouting unit where talents will be discovered to feed the junior national teams,” he added.

Kurt explained the reason why the Technical Directorate was moved to the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence at Prampram was to ensure the Center fulfills its purpose.

The Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence will be administered by an eight-member committee and has the responsibility of formulating policies and programs to be implemented by the GFA Secretariat and the Technical Directorate.

The Centre will provide a base for all coaching and technical development of the GFA, provide training and technical assistance to clubs which compete in WAFU, CAF and FIFA club competitions.

Meanwhile, sources at the FA indicate that as part of the major shakeup ongoing, Francis Oti Akenteng is likely to be reassigned from his post and a new technical head named.

The Ghana Football Association last week dissolved all the technical teams of the various national teams with Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah ousted from his post after the expiration of his contract.
