Kylian Mbappé has brushed off doubts about his place among football’s elite, saying he believes he is the world’s best player. The Real Madrid star made the bold claim as attention turns toward the 2026 Ballon d’Or race.
Speaking before Madrid’s Champions League meeting with Inter Milan, Mbappé said the award is not in his hands. He explained that the decision will ultimately rest with journalists who cast the votes.
The comments came after a frustrating weekend for the Spanish giants, who fell 1-0 to Real Betis in La Liga. Mbappé had the chance to rescue a point but failed to score from the penalty spot.
Even so, the French forward has made a strong start to the season, finding the net four times in his first four league matches. His early form has kept him among the leading names in the individual awards conversation.
Mbappé’s remarks add extra intrigue to an already intense campaign for both Real Madrid and their new superstar. With trophies and goals likely to shape the final Ballon d’Or picture, his performance in the months ahead could prove decisive.
