Former Member of Parliament for the Builsa North Constituency, Timothy Ataboadey Awontiirim, has accused the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration of widespread destruction and corruption, asserting that the current Mahama administration is diligently rebuilding Ghana’s foundations.

Mr Awontiirim made the strong statement during an interview on GTV’s Breakfast Show on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, while discussing COPEC’s applause for President Mahama’s decision to end fuel allowances for appointees.

Mr Awontiirim accused the party saying” they choked them with unqualified people in the state institutions, because they were leaving office within the short period”, he said. “They destroyed this country, every fibre is gone, we are rebuilding.”

The politician highlighted the achievements. The government has released over 290 million Ghana cities for that project. Over 300 million has been paid to national health insurers, over 600 million given to schools to feed children, isn’t that surprising”, mentioning how the current administration has been able to solve the problems.

The issue with SHS student has now gone so parents are no more complaining, he also said parents were asked to even send Gari and sugar on PTA’s platform. Are we not in this country?, he ask.

The former MP concluded by touching on corruption under the Mahama led government saying,The case have been referred to a state institution for the investigations to be done.”
