People are being urged to avoid London Waterloo this morning as a result of major disruption from overrunning engineering works.
Commuters are being told not to travel to or from the station as a result of the works that were carried out overnight.
National Rail has said the problems will last until at least this afternoon and travellers are being urged to consider other options.
Some trains were terminating 30 miles away at Woking, Surrey. National Rail added that services were restored at 7am but there is a knock-on affect with may being cancelled, delayed or revised until 2pm today.
South West Rail which operates trains from the station said: ‘Services are being delayed due to over-running engineering work, sorry for the inconvenience this causes you this morning.’
Another statement added: ‘Following earlier engineering works not being finished on time at London Waterloo all lines have now reopened. ‘Train services running to and from this station may be cancelled, delayed or revised. Disruption is expected until 2pm.’
