Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition conference opens in Accra

The second annual Maternal, Child Health and Nutrition Conference has opened in Accra with a call for quality health delivery, where no mother would die during child birth and no death of a child would be recorded through preventable diseases.

Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Freda Prempeh who stated this proposed constant training of health workers, advocacy and enforcement of policies on maternal and child health care to realize this vision.

The three-day maternal, child health and nutrition conference will discuss issues affecting maternal and child health, early childhood development, infant and young child feeding practices, and interventions to address anemia in pregnant women and children.

Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, Freda Prempeh, said the ideas of participants should drive the national vision of reducing maternal mortality.

Deputy Minister of Health, Alexander Abban said the Ministry has asked the relevant agencies to work towards efficient healthcare.

Director General of the Ghana Health Service, Dr Anthony Nsiah- Asare said the conference, as a platform has helped to drive real improvement and development outcomes with priority on issues of maternal health.
