The Melcom Care Foundation, as part of its commitment to corporate social responsibility, has donated a variety of food items to the Office of the National Chief Imam to support the Muslim community during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The donation, valued at over GH₵ 500,000, included 300 bags of Platinum Jasmine Rice (45kg), 300 bottles of Platinum Sunflower Oil (5L), 2,400 packs of Happy Flakes Cube Sugar, 2,400 packs of Seara Chicken Sausage, 3,600 packs of Milkana Spreadable Milk Cheese, and 600 bottles of Poppiz Sparkling White Grape Wine.

Additionally, 1,000 Iftar meals made up of fried rice and chicken were provided for the evening’s fast-breaking.

This gesture continues the Foundation’s annual tradition of supporting the Office of the National Chief Imam and the broader Muslim community during the Ramadan season.

Mr Joseph Kpormegbey, the Public Relations Officer of Melcom, said the company remained committed to supporting worthy causes and promoting community welfare.

“This year’s donation is an improvement over last year’s, and it is our hope that these items will help many families to observe the fast with ease,” he said.

Mr Osumanu Seidu, the Executive Secretary to the National Chief Imam, expressed appreciation on behalf of Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu and thanked the Melcom Care Foundation for the support.

He said it would significantly benefit individuals who struggled to afford basic meals during the fasting period.

“These items are going to be very impactful. Many people depend on such donations to begin and break their fast each day,” Mr Seidu said.

“There is more blessing in giving than receiving, and we are grateful to Melcom for continuing to touch the lives of people in our communities.”

He noted that the Office of the National Chief Imam had a longstanding tradition of receiving and distributing Ramadan support items to less-privileged households, adding that every donation was dispatched to beneficiaries across various communities.
