A research fellow with the Institute of Statistics and Social Economic Research, Andrew Agyei-Holmes, has suggested that one effective way to fight galamsey is to employ technology with which equipment and water bodies can be tracked.

He said that will ensure effective monitoring.

Dr Agyei-Holmes was speaking on GBC’s Current Affair, ‘Talking Point’.

MP for Tamale North, Alhassan Suhuyini, said government has failed in its fight against the menace even though it has all the necessary support which has rendered his Nation Address disappointing.

The Executive Director of the Danquah Institute, Richard Ahiagba, praised government’s achievement in addressing galamsey.

He said President Akufo-Addo is unable to tell the state of the excavators in his Nation Address because the case is still under investigation.
