Member of Parliament for La Dadekotopon, Rita Naa Odoley Sowah, confronted military personnel involved in carrying out a demolition exercise at La Beach.

The MP challenged the military over the decision to demolish structures at the site, saying she had not been informed about the exercise.

According to Ms Sowah, she had engaged the relevant authorities on the issue and had been assured that the structures would not be demolished.

She said she was therefore surprised to see military personnel at the beach carrying out the demolition

The military has directed vendors and businesses operating within the resort to vacate the premises to allow the exercise to continue.

Ms Sowah also questioned the manner in which the exercise was being conducted.

She alleged that some military personnel were firing shots and wielding guns while directing people at the site to leave.

“What is it, do you want to kill us? What has La done?” she asked during the confrontation.

The MP said she expected the authorities to explain why the demolition was being carried out despite the assurances she had received.

The exercise continues as the military works to clear structures around the La Beach area which is the beach front of the Labadi Beach Hotel
