Some Members of Parliament are unhappy over what they referred to as an avoidable road accident that is killing innocent people daily.

Their anger was born out of the fact that, the people who are put in charge to making sure that the roads are safe, are rather looking unconcerned.

Last week alone, many road accidents occurred including The Deputy Minister of Communication, George Andah who survived.

The same week, six people lost their lives instantly when The Sprinter Driver on Accra-Cape Coast road burst a tyre while overtaking a number of vehicles.

In a statement read by MP for Krowor, Dr. Okoe Boye Barnard, on ‘avoidable road traffic accidents, the role of the citizens versus the duties of the State’, Dr. Okoe said, “it is depressing to note that many Ghanaians die daily on the N4 highway and the Adenta-Madina highway as a result of absent or inadequate or uncompleted footbridge”.

According to him, too much blood has been spilled over the years due to this infrastructural deficit,….“the blood of our brothers and sisters continue to speak, not curses on us but prompts stipulating the need to rise above whatever obstacle and get the footbridges faxed”.

The MP stated that, “on The Accra-Cape Road, it is written all over the stretch over speeding kills, despite the warning people die daily from the recklessness of some drivers”.

“As I speak tens to hundreds are making their way through the Adenta-Madina Highway, we either act now or lose more of our own”, he emphasized.
