The Amasaman High Court, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, delivered a major judgment in the appeal case of Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa. The court has reduced her original 15-year prison sentence to 12 months (one year).
Nana Agradaa was first convicted on July 3, 2025 by the Accra Circuit Court on charges including charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretences. She was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment with hard labour, a verdict that generated significant public discussion at the time.
In the ruling, the High Court upheld her conviction but found that the length of the original sentence was excessive and disproportionate given the circumstances of the case. The presiding judge exercised the court’s authority to vary the sentence, setting the new term at 12 calendar months, to run from the date of her conviction.
The ruling means Nana Agradaa will serve a total of one year in prison under the revised sentence unless further legal steps are taken.
The Amasaman High Court’s decision brings a significant shift in the high-profile case that has drawn attention both locally and internationally.
