The Greater Accra Regional National Democratic Congress, (NDC) secretariat is said to mobilize its members to accompany their National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo to The National CID Headquarters on Monday, March 4, 2019.

The Secretariat at news conference addressed by The Greater Accra Regional Organizer, Anthony Nukpenu on Sunday said: “They stand with Chairman Ofosu Ampofo and will be accompanying him to the Police Headquarters at 8am on Monday”.
He also called on all NDC supporters and sympathizers in Greater Accra to join and show to President Akufo-Addo and his “surrogates” that the NDC cannot be cowed or intimidated.. “We will defend democracy”.
According to him, they will defend the country against those who seek to turn Ghana into what he described as one party dictatorship.
“We will fight against the use of state institutions like the Ghana Police Service against political opponents of the Akufo-Addo regime”.
The CID has invited the Mr. Ampofo following an alleged leaked tape involving him in relation to comments he allegedly made on that said tape.
But a statement by the party has refuted the allegation and added that the said tape was doctored.
The NDC however, accused The New Patrotic Party, (NPP) of being behind the recording the NDC Chairman for cover-up.
“We are also aware that Bryan Acheampong, the man who organized the illegal militia to brutalize innocent Ghanaians at Ayawaso on January 31 is the one behind this whole orchestration to arrest our National Chairman.”
“We wish to state that this invitation by the Police is utterly shameful as it represents misplaced priorities and a tacit encouragement for illegal recordings and doctored tapes”. That’s according to Mr. Nukpenu.
“We fully associate with the position of our National leadership that the tape recording allegedly involving Chairman Ofosu Ampofo is doctored and a desperate attempt at political equalization to diffuse the widespread condemnation of the state-sponsored brutalities meted to innocent citizens at Ayawaso on January 31” he alleged.
“Also, we believe that it is a desperate attempt to divert attention from the damning revelations of governmental complicity contained in the latest “Galamsey Fraud” documentary of Ace investigative
Journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas”.
