Health Experts are continuing their push for the implementation of Ghana’s anti-smoking laws. Smoking bans generally impose restrictions upon smoking in public places. The call comes amidst the increased smoking of “shisha”- in the country. Shisha is a glass-bottomed water pipe in which fruit-flavoured tobacco is covered with foil and roasted with charcoal. The tobacco smoke passes through a water chamber and is inhaled deeply and slowly. Experts believe a strict enforcement of the law, will keep unsuspecting people from becoming passive smokers, while protecting young people from indulging in the act, that can cause damage to the lungs, cause cancer and break down the body.
