Parliament begins debate of 2024 Budget and Economic Policy of Government

Approval of 2024 budget hangs: Headcount to be taken on Thursday

Debate on the 2024 budget statement and economic policy of government has begun in Parliament. Seconding the motion for the approval of the debate, Minister of Information and Member of Parliament (MP) for Ofoase Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said the economic policy is pragmatic as it among others ensures growth of the economy.

He said this growth will translate into development more especially making provision for the complete projects already started.

Ranking member on the Finance Committee, Isaac Adongo took a swipe at government for not stabilizing GDP growth.

Juxtaposing the performance of the economy to that of the John Mahama’s administration, he said the increasing prices of commodities defeats any argument government makes about growing the economy.
