Parliament has responded that it has not withdrawn the vigilantism and other Related Offences Bill which was passed last week as being speculated in the media.

The Member of Parliament for Tamale Central and Ranking Member of the Committee on Constitutional, Legal and Subsidiary Legislation of Parliament, Inusah Fuseini said rather, the Bill has been haulted due to some anomalies that has been detected that needs to be correction.

In an interview with GBC’s George Asekere on Radio Ghana’s current affairs program ‘Behind the News’ Wednesday, 24, Mr. Fuseini explained that, some clauses needs to be rechecked to avoid the need for amendment in the future after the Bill may have been passed. He said it is necessary to take time to correct the anomalies.

He added that this will mean the Bill may go through the second and even third readings before finally, it will receive the Presidential Asccent to become a law.

The Ranking Member said that it was due to the efficiency of the Parliament that helped to detect the anomalies and not their inability to scrutinize the Bill.
