Government has muttered out that it will enroll all persons living with leprosy in the country, onto the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty Programme, LEAP. The move is to better the lives of persons living with disabilities.

Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia announced this at the Inaugural Conference and Installation of the District Governor for the Ghana Lions Club District 418 in Accra. He mentioned that he is hopeful the Club will continue to assist the less privileged.

The International Association of Lions constituted by independent clubs where members use their talents to support community works to improve the standard of living especially for the disadvantaged.

The Ghana chapter of the Lions Club for almost forty years has been extending a helping hand to the needy. In April, 2018 the Ghana Lions was designated as Provisional District 418 and was officially ratified at the close of the International Conference in Las Vegas-Nevada, USA.

Vice President Bawumia also added that the Lions Club has helped to unearth the potential of the youth and this complements government efforts at improving the economy.
