Ghana Police arrested a suspect on their wanted list during security operations at the Diaspora Summit 2025 at the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC), recovering eight stolen ATM cards from his residence.

The Accra Central Division Police Command launched an undercover operation on Friday, December 19, 2025, following complaints from participants at previous AICC events about stolen mobile phones, iPads, and credit cards. Heightened vigilance at the summit led officers to spot Reagan Kwesi Egbi Addo, alias Morgan Addo, wearing an official summit tag and posing as a legitimate attendee.

The suspect, wanted for multiple stealing offenses in the Accra Central area, could not explain his presence. He was detained at the Ministries Police Station for questioning.

Preliminary probes show Addo targeted victims at ATMs by complicating their transactions, then offering “help” to swap their cards. He allegedly withdrew cash using the stolen cards and pilfered more during conference breaks by rifling through bags and laptops.

Event organizers told police the summit registration was open online to the public, allowing the suspect easy access.

A raid on Addo’s Ashale Botwe home uncovered eight ATM cards from various victims and banks:

– GCB Ready Cash ATM Card (Angela Esi Anderson)

– GCB Debit Plus Visa Card (Isahaku Marisu)

– GCB Debit Plus MasterCard (Abena Sefan)

– GCB Classic MasterCard (Rubi Essinam Banah)

– GCB Ready Cash ATM Card (Alimatu Inusah)

– ABSA International Debit Visa Card (Ransford Ashitey)

– GT Bank MasterCard (serial: 5454410003674430)

– Fidelity Bank Visa Card (Edi Elliot)

Police are holding the cards as exhibits and will contact banks to trace owners as investigations continue.
