Police have initiated investigations into an alleged robbery attack which occurred on Monday, May 27, on the Winneba-Kasoa highway.
According to the Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Oppong, although the police have not received a formal complaint on the incident, the Regional Commander has invited all the officers who were stationed at the various police checkpoints to assist with the investigations.

A victim of the said robbery attack, Josephine Annan-Dennis, in a Facebook post narrated how some police officers at various check points failed and showed no interest when she narrated the incident to them after the attack.
According to her, the incident happened at about 8:30pm around Gomoa Potsin.

Speaking on the issue in a radio on Accra based station, Thursday morning, DSP Irene Oppong said the police got intelligence on the attack and rushed to the scene but the robbers bolted.
She said the patrol team chased the robbers but they abandoned their get-away passenger bus and run into the bush

“The regional police commander Thursday morning has invited all men who were on duty between Potsin and Budu Atta area and as far as Winneba to come and assist us with investigations
“We want to establish what exactly happened; those at the barrier, at what time did they get the information; was there anybody who came to the barrier to give them that information or told them what had happened and what was their response. So this is what we are doing to make sure that we come out with the truth. So I will tell the victim to hold on and give us some time.”

“So this morning, the district commander and all men who were on duty are in the office of the regional police commander.”

She said although the victim made no report to the police, the police would resolve the matter.
