100 YES to Savanah Region in Damongo

All Voters who turned out to vote at the Town Park Polling Station in Damongo in the Northern Region where the Savanah North is expected to be carved out have all voted YES to the new regions.

According to Radio Ghana’s correspondent Murtala Issah, all 606 people voted YES out of the 808 registered voters.

Officials of the Electoral Commission, (EC) confirmed that no rejected or spoilt ballots, and a 75 percent turn out, far more than the 50 percent constitutional requirement.

A Deputy Chief of Staff at the Presidency, Abu Jinakpor said the turn out is a clear indication of what the people have clamoured for a long time.

He said the creation of the new region is in the best interest of the people so far as development is concerned and also more power will be devolved to the people.

One notable feature during the election was that both NDC and the NPP United to say YES to the creation of the Savanah North Region.
