Thirteen political parties have endorsed the Electoral Commission’s decision to compile new voters register ahead of the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
The parties include the NPP, PNC, CPP, NDP, GCPP and LPG. Addressing a news conference in Accra, Leader of the LPG, Kofi Akpaloo who spoke on behalf of the Political Parties for ‘YES’ to a new register, asked other political parties and stakeholders to support the EC for effective discharge of its mandate.
Mr. Akpalo raised concerns about said the current Biometric Verification Device.
He made some comparisons of the amount spent on the limited registration in 2016 and what is needed to compile the new voter’s register.
Mr. Akpaloo expressed surprise at the NDC’s opposition to the compilation of a new voters register. General Secretary of the NPP, John Boadu said there is a need to monitor the EC so that it can deliver to the satisfaction of Ghanaians.
