3 out of 28 absentee MPs risk losing their seats for repeated unauthorised absences

Three (3) out of  Twenty-Eight (28) sitting Members of Parliament (MPs) risk losing their seats for repeated unauthorised absences in the First Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament.

A parliamentary attendance report has revealed that a significant number of Members of Parliament (MPs) missed sittings without official permission.

The report, which covers 43 sittings held between January and March 2025, showed that several MPs absented themselves, some for more than 20 days without official permission.

Below are the MPs and the number of days they have been absent;

1 Frempong, Joseph (Nkawkaw) – 22 days

2 Forson, Cassiel Ato Baah (Dr) (Ajumako/Enyan/Essiam) – 17 days

3 Armah, Blay Nyameke (Sekondi) – 16 days

4 Ablakwa, Samuel Okudzeto (North Tongu) – 14 days

5 Afriyie, Nana Ayew (Dr) (Effiduase/Asokore) – 14 days

6 Boateng, Kwabena (Ejisu) – 13 days

7 Pelpuo, Abdul-Rashid Hassan (Dr) (Wa Central) – 13 days

8 Anim, Ernest Yaw (Kumawu) – 11 days

9 Jinapor, John Abdulai (Yapei Kusawgu) – 11 days

10 Kwarteng, Kwaku Agyeman (Obuasi West) – 11 days

11 Akandoh, Kwabena Mintah (Juaboso) – 10 days

12 Ampaabeng Kyeremeh, Simon (Berekum East) – 10 days

13 Darko-Mensah, Kwabena Okyere (Takoradi) – 10 days

14 Ibrahim, Ahmed (Banda) – 10 days

15 Adams, Abdul-Salam (New Edubiase) – 10 days

16 Acquah, Alexander Akwasi (Akim Oda) – 8 days

17 Asamoah, Vincent Oppong (Dormaa West) – 8 days

18 Ayine, Dominic Akuritinga (Dr) (Bolgatanga East) – 8 days

19 Bentil, Godfred Henry (Mpohor) – 8 days

20 Boako, Gideon (Dr) (Tano North) – 8 days

21 Buah, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi (Ellembele) – 8 days

22 Gomashie, Abla Dzifa (Ms) (Ketu South) – 8 days
