The National Democratic Congress, NDC, has expressed its resolve to resist all attempts by the ruling NPP to undermine and subvert the country’s Constitution. To this end, leadership of the Party has commended the 137 MPs for their gallantry in resisting passage of the E-Levy Bill.

Speaking at the commemoration of the 40th Anniversary of the 31st December Revolution in Accra, General Secretary of the Party, Johnson Asiedu-Nketiah served notice that there will be more upsets and fallouts in the House if the standing orders and laws of the country are not respected.

The 40th Anniversary of the 31st December Revolution is on the theme “40 years of Democratic Stability; The legacy of the legend”. The event hosted by the Ablekuma Central Constituency attracted hundreds of party sympathizers clad in party paraphernalia.

Speaker after speaker lamented what they called a downhill fortune of the country’s democracy under the Nana Addo/Bawumia government.

MP for Klottey Korle, Dr. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings who is also daughter of former President Rawlings, Founder of the NDC called on the people to immerse themselves in the spirit of the revolution and rescue the country from sinking further.

General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah said the NDC is not to blame for the current impasse in Parliament. Asking the voices of conscience to intervene, Mr Asiedu Nketiah noted that the occasional brawl in the 8th Parliament is akin to the violence that greeted confirmation of the MMDCEs this year. Former President John Dramani Mahama, took a swipe at President Akufo-Addo for not owning up to his responsibility and seeking to shift the blame five years on.

Party Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo said the NDC will win the next general election despite the impediments.

Party stalwarts who graced the occasion include the 2020 Running Mate, Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman and campaign Manager, Professor Joshua Alabi.

Wreaths were laid in honour of fallen heroes of the party and for the Late Former President, Jerry John Rawlings.
