Upper Regional Chairman of NDC, Abdul Nasir-Saani, re-elected

The incumbent Upper Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Abdul Nasir-Saani, popularly known as Bunas, has retained his position. He polled 277 votes to beat his challenger, Alhassan Adams, who had 157 votes.

The first and second Vice Chairman positions went to Messrs. Kwame Mumuni and Musah Issah. The two candidates went unopposed.

The Secretary, Charles Lwanga Puozuing had 233 votes to maintain his position, his contender Nicodemus N.B.D. Dery garnered 151 votes.

GBC’s Emmanuel Mensah-Abludo reports from the Wa Technical Institute, the venue of the elections that Thomas Saad Ngminbahaara with 199 votes, wrestled the Oganiser position from Issahaku Nuhu-Putiaha, who polled 185 of the ballots. Alhaji Nurah Issah Danwana, who stood unopposed, picked the Deputy Secretary slot.

With 203 votes, Issah Kantagyere Issahaku reclaimed the Communication Officer position he lost to Prosper Puo-Ire in the last regional elections.

The Women’s Organiser slot was won by Madam Prisca Domenyevi Kuupol Bagonluri. Others were Treasurer, Abdulai Batiah Santi; Deputy Communication Officer, Madam Eunice Kaminta; Youth Organiser, Basiera Saankara; Deputy Treasurer, Abudu Kanchuo Aminu; and Zongo Caucus Coordinator, Yahaya Dauda Mwining Pagra-Olo.

The rest were Deputy Organiser, Iddrisu Mahmoud; First Deputy Youth Organiser, Zakaria Abdul-Rahaman Markus; and Second Deputy Youth Organiser, Joseph Sungbuobu Banye.

The elections were supervised by the Electoral Commission, which was headed by the Upper Regional Director of the Commission, Ali Adamu Osman.

The newly elected NDC executives were sworn in by a former Upper West Regional Minister and the Chairman of Upper West Elections Committee, Alhaji Amin Sulemani. The Secretary, Charles Lwanga Puozuing, on behalf of the new executives, pledged that they would do all within their power to win all eleven seats in the Upper West for the NDC in 2024.
