President Akufo-Addo restates commitment to accelerate development in North East Region

President Akufo-Addo has commissioned the newly constructed block of the North East Regional Co-ordinating Council; commissioned the new regional office of the Youth Employment Agency; paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Yunyoo; and inspected the Agenda 111 Hospital Project currently ongoing in Yunyoo, which is one of four (4) being constructed in the North East Region.

“We can’t build the regions without creating the institutions that will make regional development a success, and that is what we have begun to do with this building,” he said on Saturday, August 6.

The Overlord of the Mamprugu  Traditional Area in the North East Region Naa Buhagu Abdulai Mahami Sheriga expressed appreciation to President Akufo-Addo for  the appointing the Member of Parliament for Walewale, Hajia Lariba Abudu as the Minister for Gender Children and Social Protection.

He described the appointment of a daughter of the area as a boost for Women empowerment and will encourage young women to aspire for higher office.

The Overlord said this during the One day visit of the President to the North East Region.

The President as part of his visit to the North East Region granted a Radio interview at a local station in Nalerigu. He also paid a visit to the Overlord of the Mamprugu.

The Overlord of  Mamprugu through his Spokenperson, John Wuni Gurumah said the people  of the Traditional Area are glad after he announced Hajia Lariba Abudu as Minister for Gender Children and Social Protection.
