Aspirant in the Ayawaso East National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary primary, Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, has openly rejected a pre-election poll by Global Info Analytics predicting his defeat, insisting that today’s results will instead put the pollster’s credibility to the test.
Speaking on Saturday, February 7, 2026, as voting got underway, Baba Jamal described the Global Info Analytics projection as inaccurate and politically misleading.
“Today’s result will determine the credibility of Mussa Dankwah,” he said, responding to a poll released by the Executive Director of Global Info Analytics which projected that Hajia Amina Adam would secure about 54 per cent of the vote, with Baba Jamal’s support unlikely to exceed 38 per cent.
Baba Jamal maintained that the sentiments on the ground did not reflect the figures published by the pollster, arguing that delegates would ultimately decide based on their conviction rather than opinion polls.
The Global Info Analytics survey, released ahead of the primary, suggested that a late shift in voter preference was improbable and placed Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Member of Parliament Mahama Naser Toure, as the clear favourite.
However, Baba Jamal dismissed the findings, stressing that the true test of any poll lies in the actual ballot outcome.
The NDC primary is being held to select a parliamentary candidate for the Ayawaso East by-election, following the death of the sitting MP. Five aspirants are contesting the race, with voting taking place at the Nima Cluster of Schools under the supervision of the Electoral Commission and with security provided by the Ghana Police Service.
As delegates cast their ballots, attention remains focused on whether the final results will align with the poll predictions or validate Baba Jamal’s challenge to their accuracy.
