The Chief of Gbankoni in the Bunkpurugu District of the North East Region, Nasimong Laar Haruna has appealed to Government to build a Police post in the area to curb the spate of cross-border crimes in view of the fact that the area shares borders with neighboring Togo.

He said the Police post will help address robbery and smuggling of fertilizer into Togo.

Naa Laar Haruna expressed optimism that the Police post will be constructed, adding that, the Vice President has kept faith with the people of the area.

He made these comments when Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia paid a courtesy call on him as part of his tour of the North East Region.

According to the Chief, the Vice President has not only demonstrated he is caring, but he has also proven to be someone they can rely on any time the need arises adding that it is the reason victory will be the Party’s.

He said the government honored its promises and gave the community a CHPS compound, electricity and roads. He appealed to the government not to neglect them when they retain power adding that some of the roads done during Nkrumah regime needed an upgrade.
