Aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Boakye Agyarko, has called for unity, discipline and reforms within the party as it prepares for the 2028 general elections.

Mr. Agyarko made the call during engagements with the Northern Regional Council of Elders and Patrons, Regional Executives, Constituency Executives and other party stakeholders in Yendi and Tamale as part of his nationwide campaign tour.

According to the campaign team, Members of Parliament for Gushegu and Kpandai, Alhassan Tampuli and Matthew Nyindam, declared their support for Mr. Agyarko’s bid for the National Chairman position.

The two MPs reportedly spoke on behalf of their colleagues in the Northern enclave.

Addressing party members, Mr. Agyarko stressed the need for the NPP to rebuild, reunite and reposition itself for victory in the 2028 elections.

He said although Ghanaians would assess the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government based on its performance, the NPP must also focus on strengthening its internal structures and reconnecting with its grassroots supporters.

Mr. Agyarko further reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the party’s 2024 presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and other stakeholders to build a united and effective campaign machinery ahead of the next general election.

As part of his visit to the region, he donated 500 bags of cement and an undisclosed amount of money towards the construction of the Northern Regional NPP office project. He later toured the project site to assess the progress of work.

Mr. Agyarko expressed appreciation to the Northern Regional leadership, elders, patrons, constituency executives and grassroots members for what he described as their warm reception and continued support for the growth of the party.

The engagements formed part of his campaign activities as he seeks to lead the NPP as its next National Chairman.
