The Colleges of Education Teachers Association (CETAG) has threatened to embark on what they describe as the longest ever indefinite industrial action if government through its agencies does not begin negotiations to pay them market premium and book and research allowance.
They have given government up till the beginning of the academic year in October to give them a favourable response.
At a news conference in Accra, the National President of CETAG, Prince Obeng Hemah, said currently, tutors in the Colleges of Education possess the minimum requirements needed to teach at the tertiary level but CETAG members are denied access to market premium as well as Book and Research allowance despite their perseverance.
CETAG also questioned the delay in the release of the new curriculum which they are supposed to work with from October.
The Association also supports the introduction of licensure exams for trained teachers. It however calls for broader stakeholder engagement.
