Member of Parliament for South Tongu Kobby Mensah Woyome, has presented Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth about ¢100,000.00 to help prevent the spread Coronavirus in his District.

The items, which include gloves, face mask, veronica bucket and others, were presented to the South Tongu District Health Directorate for distribution.

His intervention comes at a time Ghana has recorded about nine (9) cases.

The MP, Kobby Mensah Woyome, made the donation after touring the Distract to ascertain the level of preparedness in the district as he visited the two major Hospitals, ST. Comboni Catholic Hospital and Sogakorpe District Hospital as well as custom officers at the Dabala division of Ghana Revenue Authority, the Police and the Immigration posts at the Sogakorpe barrier.

In an interview with gbcghanonline, Mr. Woyome noted that the two Hospitals have done their best to create an isolation centres.

He said they have also put up a number of measures by monitoring temperature of every visitor in line with Ghana Health Service coronavirus guidelines.

However, he was not happy about the fact that, the police, the immigration and the customs are using their bare hands to check goods and touching visitor’s luggage.

According him, the area has not recorded any case and “we don’t even want it but it is too risky for them to use unprotected hands at this period”.

He appealed to the Ghana Health Service and other stakeholders to help them, “since here is the first stop/check point for people traveling by road from Togo, Benin, Nigeria and other neighboring countries to Ghana”.
