The Convention People’s Party (CPP) will be 70 years next Wednesday, June 12. A statement signed by the acting General Secretary of the Party, James Kwabena Bomfeh said the party was founded in 1949 to pursue a self-determined path to independence.
The year long celebration will begin with the hosting of deprived and abandoned children with disabilities from the Osu Children’s Home and the Children’s Ward of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital on Tuesday, June 11.
On the 12th of June there will be a cake cutting ceremony at the Party Headquarters followed by the relaunch of the Convention Newspaper.
According to the statement, the party will worship with the various religions from the 14th to the 16th of this month.
It will also engage key state institutions and non-state ones in strategic conversations to evolve a new way of tackling challenges confronting the country.
The statement said the private sector will also feature prominently in the engagements.
The CPP hopes to redirect Ghana on a new path of thinking and consensus building to move her forward.
