The Ashanti Regional Director of the Electoral Commission, Mr. Benjamin Banor-Bioh, has admitted to an error in the registration figures at some registration centers in the Region.
According to him, the error is a genuine mistake on the part of the concerned District Electoral Officers.
Mr. Banor-Bioh was reacting to an allegation by the Ashanti Regional Branch of the NDC that the figures published by the EC from the registration were not accurate.
The Party went on to give the EC a 48-hour ultimatum to update its officially published figures of total registered eligible voters during Phase One of the ongoing Registration in the Ashanti Region to reflect the accurate data.
But speaking to Radio Ghana in Kumasi, the Regional Electoral Officer noted that the Commission on its own detected the error in the registration figures adding that the anomaly occurred only in the Offinso North and Sekyere South Districts but not in four districts as claimed by the NDC.
