The Electoral Commission has cautioned the media to desist from the practice of projections and declaration of election results. This according to the EC, creates tension and confusion among the public.
Acting Director of Public Affairs at the EC, Mrs. Sylvia Annoh, said only the Chairperson of the Commission, has the mandate to declare results of the Presidential election, while that of the Parliamentary election, is declared by the Returning Officers at the Coalition Centers.
She appealed to the media to seek clearance from the Commission before putting out information concerning the results in this year’s election.
