EC Commissioners visit IGP, POMAB

The Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Mrs. Jean Mensah and her team on Thursday, June 20, 2019, visited the Inspector-General of Police, (IGP), David Asante-Apeatu and members of the Police Management Board, (POMAB), at the Police Headquarters in Accra.

The Electoral Commissioner’s team which visited the IGP included her two Deputies, Samuel Tettey and Eric Bossman.

Members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) who received the EC Chair are the IGP, David Asante-Apeatu, COP, Yaagy Akuribah, COP, Ken Yeboah, COP, George Alex Mensah, DCOP, Simon Afeku, DCOP, Aboagye Nyarko and ACP, David Eklu.

The visit according to the police in a tweet, was to strengthen the partnership that exist between police and the EC.

As part of the Electoral Commission’s efforts to demystify its operations and bring the Commission closer to the citizenry, the Electoral Commission of Ghana has been engaging in consultations with key stakeholders in society.

The purpose of these consultations is to hear first-hand what the concerns and issues of key stakeholders are regarding the Commission and its operations. That’s according to the EC.

Additionally, the engagements will provide the Electoral Commission the opportunity to stakeholders about its current activities and outlook for the future. It said in a statement.

So far the Commission has visited a number of media houses  and organizations including; The Multimedia Group, Citi FM, Despite Group of Companies, Graphic Communications Group, ,Ghana Journalists Association, Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council, The Catholic Bishop’s Conference , National Chief Imam Dr. Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu , The Christian Council, National Association of Charismatic and Christian Council, (NACCC) and the Ahamadiya Moslem Mission.
