The Electoral Commission (EC), has announced that it will compile a fresh Voters’ Register next year to be used for the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
The Director of Electoral Services at the EC, Dr. Serebuor Quarcoo who made this known to GBC’s Radio Ghana in Kumasi, explained that the decision is necessitated by several factors including the need to replace existing outmoded biometric verification machines.
On the recent Limited Voters Registration Exercise, Dr. Serebuor Quarcoo said 1.2 million new voters were registered with eight thousand challenged cases.
Ashanti region registered the highest number of 209,810 new voters.
