Concerns have been raised at the number of double registrations detected by the EC following the deletion of 30,000 names from the voters’ register.  This is in spite of the biometric verification devices and indelible inks used at registration centers to prevent double registration.

In an interview with GBC’s Radio Ghana, Deputy Chairman of the EC in charge of Operations, Samuel Tettey justified the deletion of the 30,000 names saying the biometric verification devices are programmed to detect double registration after data gathered is exported into the Central data system.

This means double registration can only be detected after the exercise and not during registration.

Mr. Tettey insisted the certified voters’ register will be ready by November 11, adding that, all challenges with the provisional register have been rectified.
