Elizabeth Sackey confirmed AMA’s 1st Female Chief Executive

Members of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, AMA have made history by unanimously confirming the President’s nominee Elizabeth Sackey for the position of Chief Executive, making her the 1st Female to head the Assembly.

At the end of voting, Madam Sackey who is the immediate past Deputy Greater Accra Regional Minister polled 30 out of the 30 total votes cast. The election supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission and witnessed by some high profile personalities was generally peaceful and incident free.

The exercise attracted high profile dignitaries including the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, a Member of the Council of State ET Mensah and the 3-Members of Parliament under the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, the Clergy and Traditional Authorities. Elizabeth Sackey was a former MP for Okaikwei North on the ticket of the New Patriotic Party, NPP.

She hails from Asere-Accra in the Greater Accra Region and was born on May 6, 1958. She holds a Certificate in Marketing, which she obtained in 2003.

She worked with the Ghana Commercial Bank as a Chief Clerk before becoming a Member of Parliament.
