Member of Parliament for North Tongu Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has filed an urgent question to drag before Parliament the Minister responsible for education over publication of tribal bigotry books.

His question follows a publication of books: History of Ghana, Text Book 3 and Golden English, Basic 4 which contained bigoted contents directed at The Ewe Community in Ghana.

The publication has attracted numerous condemnations from all walks of life whilst some even accused the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service and National Council for Curriculum and Assessment (NaCCA) for complicity.

The urgent question advertised for Thursday, 25th March, 2021 on the provisional order paper reads:

“Mr. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (North Tongu): To ask the Minister for Education whether the following publications (a) “History of Ghana, Text Book 3”, by Badu Nkansah Publications, authored by Badu Nkansah and Nelly Martison Anim; and (b) “Golden English, Basic 4”, authored by Okyere Baafi Alexander, both of which contain bigoted content and relate to the Ewe ethnic group, have come to the Ministry’s attention, and if so, whether the Ministry granted approval for those publications and what possible steps are being taken to purge our schools and bookshops from offensive, divisive, and incendiary publications of this nature”.
