Expectation high as Regional Minister arrives to a rousing welcome

Newly appointed Upper East Regional Minister, Paulina Patience Abayage, says as she takes office, her focus will be to building a unifying force among all political divides in the region to fight issues of poverty, deprivation, illiteracy, diseases, and unemployment.

She further pledged her commitment to work towards accelerating the pace of development in the region, noting that development can only thrive when there is discipline with people developing positive attitudes as citizens.

She therefore entreated residents of the region to eschew all forms of divisiveness and rally behind him to prosecute his development agenda without discrimination.

Madam Abayage was addressing a large enthusiastic crowd in Bolgatanga after being greeted to a rousing welcome into the region.

She said she will pursue an all-inclusive policy of administration and work with people of all backgrounds who share his vision for the Region’s development.

She declared that, just as President Nana-Addo was father of all Ghanaians, she was also Minister for the entire population of the Region, irrespective of political affiliation, ethnic or religious background.

Clad with white bands and other NPP paraphernalia, scores of people converged on a common ground at Pwalugu to catch a glimpse of Madam to usher her into the region as incoming Regional Minister.

According to Radio Ghana’s Correspondent, one could best describe the feeling and atmosphere among the people as exceptionally charged seeing the ecstatic mood that characterized her formal entry into the region.

There were excellent display of motorbikes with constant blowing of sirens by private and commercial drivers.

After being met on arrival by officials of the Regional Coordinating Council, RCC, Madam Abayage was treated to some traditional sacrifices to herald his coming.

Madam Abayage received resounding cheers and accolades from residents as she made his way through the Bolgatanga Township.

She later settled at the RCC, where she took turns to address the crowd. In her remark, the newly appointed Regional minister pledged to channel her energy to bringing about total development in the region and called for discipline among the people, with particular reference to public office holders.

Madam Abayage called for support from all stakeholders in the region and pledged her outfit’s readiness to operate an open door policy.

According to her, nobody is going to tell the story of the region for them, stressing they have to do that themselves.

She charged people in the region to embrace all the policy interventions by the Nana-Addo led administration since it benefits the Northern sector than the Southern sector.

She called for Unity among all the political divide in the region and called on the general to support any project by the government geared towards development in the region and the country at large.

She seized the platform to acknowledge the contribution of her predecessors for building a solid foundation for her to continue with the legacy they left behind.

While pledging an open door policy, Madam Abayage also disclosed plans to engage all identifiable groups to chart a common path for development.

Madam Abayage thanked President Akufo-Addo and the entire leadership of the governing NPP for the confidence repose in her and again called on Ghanaians to rally behind the NPP for a positive change.

Some residents that spoke to Radio Ghana on their expectations professed that though the task ahead was difficult to accomplish, they were confident in the abilities of Madam Abayage, because her proven track record speaks volumes of what she is capable of.
