The Finance Ministry has explained that the ¢600 million allocated for the Agenda 111 project is yet to be utilised.

This is contained in a statement responding to concerns raised by the Minority in Parliament.

The Minority earlier in a statement demanded accountability for monies spent in the implementation of government’s plan to build 111 hospitals across the country.

It noted that the plan has already been backed with ¢600 million despite being launched on Tuesday, August 17, 2021.

This allocation, the Minority maintains, is captured in the 2021 mid-year budget review in addition to ¢36 million released for the payment of consultancy fees, design, project management and coordination.

The Minority is, however, concerned that there are no details of the expenditure. However, a statement from the Ministry of Finance noted that the ¢600 million has been released into the project account at the Bank of Ghana adding that government is expected to “drawdown various amounts from the account, which will be managed by the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF)”.

The statement noted that the money was first released to the Health Infrastructure Account at the Bank of Ghana to support the implementation of the District and Regional Hospital projects back in 2020. Moving forward, the Ministry said the amount “will be disbursed to contractors in accordance with the project work plan.
