#FixTheCountry Convener Oliver Barker Vormawor charged with two counts of Treason Felony

The State has filed the Bill of Indictment in respect of the prosecution of Convener of #Fixthecountry Movement Oliver Barker-Vormawor.

He has been formally charged with two counts of treason for allegedly making posts on his social media accounts which endeavoured to usurp the Executive powers of the State by advocating an overthrow of the Constitution.

The summary of evidence contained in the Bill of Indictment indicates that the State will call three witnesses which include the complainant in the case and the cyber intelligence lead at the Crime Unit of the Police CID.

Director of Public Prosecutions at the Attorney General’s Department, Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa, also stated that the Prosecution will tender at the trial to advance its case against Mr Barker Vormawor.

These include the cautioned statement and charged statement of the accused both dated February 11, 2022, and some of his Facebook and Twitter posts.

Mr Barker-Vormawor was arraigned before the Ashaiman District Court on February 14, 2022, for a treason felony.

He has currently been granted bail by the Tema High Court.
