Former President John Mahama has stressed the necessity for members of the NDC to uphold unity as a key ingredient in strengthening the party’s structures.

He made the call when he interacted with branch executives of the party on the first leg of his three day tour of the Upper West Region to solicit votes in his bid to get the nod to lead NDC in the 2020 elections.

GBC’s Emmanuel Mensah-Abludo reports that former President Mahama was given a rousing welcome in the constituencies he visited.

Former President Mahama paid a courtesy call on the Wa Naa, Naa Seidu Fuseini Pelpuo at his palace to inform him of his mission in Upper West before interacting with delegates at Funsi, Issa and Wa.

The NDC flagbearer hopeful introduced himself as a humble man from Bole seeking the mandate to lead the party in 2020.

He shared his conviction of the NDC’s drive to recapture power in 2020, saying the the party has the experience and track record.

Former President Mahama urged the delegates to also give other contestants vying for the flagbearership of the party the same reception they have offered him on his tour.
