Ghana Armed Forces begins preparatory training towards election 2020

The Second Battalion of Infantry of the Ghana Armed Forces at Apremdo in the Western Region has started preparatory training in internal security tactics, techniques and procedures of crowd management, control and dispersal.

The objective is to prepare troops for election security and public safety, amidst threats of terrorism in the Sub-Region. They will be taken through a three-day counter-terrorism and multi-agency inter-operability training exercise.

The Commander of Second Infantry Battalion, Major Martin Dey explained that “Exercise Western Shield 2020”, is meant to create public awareness in order to avoid panic.

He said the unit periodically prepares for elections in view of its importance in the democratic and peace process.
