Outgoing Director-General of the State Interests and Governance Authority, SIGA, Stephen Asamoah Boateng says forming the Chamber of Chief Executives of State-Owned Enterprises, SOEs, has contributed in turning around non-performing organizations.

This was done through knowledge sharing, peer review and inter trading among the organizations.

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show, Mr Stephen Asamoah Boateng popularly known as ‘Asabee’ said he initiated the move to form the Chamber to help turn the fortunes of non-performing SOEs and this has yielded good results.

According to Mr Asamoah Boateng, some organisations which were always making losses have been able to turn around.

Explaining the reason for not asking for extension of his term in Office, Mr Asamoah Boateng said Ghana’s development depends on its leadership and the country cannot fail in that, hence his decision to leave SIGA and contest the Chairmanship position in the upcoming NPP National Executive primaries.

“Ghana needs a party solid and strong enough to back the Presidency” he said.

Mr Asamoah Boateng said he wants to join the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Chairmanship race to strengthen the party to retain power in the 2024 election.

He said he is confident that working with the NPP team, the party can retain power in 2024 and continue with its good management of the economy as that is what the NPP is best known for.

He said the situation at Parliament currently is as a result of the party’s failure to win more seats in 2020.
