Godfred Dame, Ursula Owusu and 14 others approved by Parliament

Parliament has unanimously approved the second batch of 16 ministerial nominees after adopting the second report of the Appointment Committee.

The nominees include Ministers designate for Trade and Industry, Alan Kyeremanteng , Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Dame , Communication and Digitalization, Ursula Owusu- Ekuful, Railway Development, John Peter Amewu , Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel Abdulai Jinapor, Tourism, Arts and Culture ,Awal Mohammed , Works and Housing, Francis Asenso Boakye ,Youth and Sports, Mustapha Yussif , Health Kweku: Agyemang Manu, Religious and Chieftaincy affairs, Ebenezer Kojo Kum, Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Dr Kweku Afriyie.

The rest are Roads and Highways, Kwasi Amoako-Atta, Transport, Kwaku Ofori Asiamah, Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah , Minister of State for Works and Housing, Freda Prempeh and Public Enterprises, Joseph Cudjoe .

Unlike what pertained on the previous day, there was consensus among members of the appointments committee. The report was therefore adopted without much difficulty and all the nominees were approved without resulting to secret balloting.

Chairman of the Committee, Joseph Osei Owusu presenting the report said, the committee recommends by consensus that the House approves the nominees to take the positions they have been nominated for.

The only Central government minister yet to be vetted is the minister-designate for Finance Ken Ofori Atta. Mr. Ofori Atta was scheduled to appear before the Appointments Committee last month but was unable to do so due to health reasons.

The Committee has set Monday, March 8, for his vetting. Meanwhile, the last set of regional ministers will be vetted today.

According to the schedule, the report on the vetting of the regional ministers is expected to be laid, debated and adopted today.
