Former Minority Leader and MP for Tamale South in the Northern Region, Haruna Iddrisu, yesterday filed his nomination to contest the Parliamentary primaries of the opposition National Democratic Congress.

Mr. Iddrisu will run for the 6th term of office as the people’s representative in the legislative arm of government when he is given the nod in the party’s May primaries.

He was accompanied by some NDC Northern Regional Executives, Constituency Executives, and Members of Parliament to submit his nomination at the constituency office.

Addressing journalists in Tamale, Mr. Iddrisu said, his intention to renew his mandate as the Member of Parliament for Tamale South marks the beginning of the journey to the victory of the NDC in 2024.

Mr. Haruna said, the Tamale South Constituency in the last Presidential and Parliamentary elections made a significant contribution of sixty-nine thousand votes and pledged to increase it to ninety thousand for John Mahama or whoever wins the NDC Presidential primaries.

He touted himself as a consummate democrat, who is open to competition.  He said if he chooses to remain in Parliament with the people’s support, he will surpass any record in Parliament as longest serving MP. The MP thanked the people of Tamale for their support.

Mr. Iddrisu said his contribution to the country’s political and social dispensation cannot be overemphasized.
