Huudu Yahaya urges NDC delegates to look out for competent Chairman

An aspirant of the National Chairman Position of the National Democratic Congress, (NDC) said what they party needs now is a chairman who will unite the rank and file and instill discipline among members.

Alhaji Huudu Yahaya also urged delegates to look out for a chairman who is competent and ready to strengthen party structures to recapture power come the 2020.

Alhaji Yahaya made these remarks when he brief journalists in Tamale on his campaign tour of some parts in the country.

Alhaji Yahaya has so far toured eight regions and yet to end his tour of the Upper East and Upper West Regions.

He said commitment to the values and principles of the party must be adhered to by the rank and file, saying that values and principles of a political party bring to bear on it when it is in government.

According to Alhaji Yahaya the grassroots of the party are not happy about because what he termed neglect by party authorities and promised that under his chairmanship branch members will be rewarded for their hard work and loyalty.

Alhaji who was onetime General Secretary of the NDC Yahaya promised to introduce an additional national delegate congress, where some sessions of the congress will be used to discuss critical national policies and programmes, and implement them when the party wins power.

He said he did not contest the last National Chairmanship election because of what he termed party interest and therefore appealed to delegates to give him the nod to bring result oriented policies and programme to them.

He outlined some of his commitments with the party and mentioned them as a member of the Kwesi Botchweys Committee assigned to investigate the reasons of the defeat of the party in 2016 General Elections.

Alhaji Yahaya is also a member of the legal committee of the party and was a member of 2016 national campaign member of the party.

Speaking about the Free Senior High School policy of government, Alhaji Yahaya said it is a good policy, but said the end results of the performance of the students should matter most.

He commended the party’s delegates for the hospitality given him during his tour of the regions and appealed to them to ensure that he wins the contest to bring victory to them come 2020.

Another issue Alhaji Yahaya expressed concern was about the activities of vigilante groups and that why should a vigilante determined who is qualified for a Chief Executive position for Tamale Teaching Hospital.
