The New Patriotic Party Medical Outreach Team Leader, Dr. Ezekiel Agyekum Obeng says that the party does not endorse any attempt to change the Inspector General of Police.
According to him, “The President has no intention of removing the IGP same with the party which has come out to say the party does not support any act of trying to overthrow the IGP.”
He clarified the fact that the Inspector General of Police was appointed by the President after a thorough background check, and the President is impressed by his credentials. He also stated that the NPP party fully supports the IGP and his work, and the President always expresses confidence in the IGP’s abilities.
He assured Ghanaians that the leaked audio tape has nothing to do with the President’s desire to remove the IGP to secure a successful election for the NPP.
”The NPP will win the elections based on their performance, unity, and the message they convey to Ghanaians.”
”The party does not require any manipulation to secure victory in the Presidential or general elections,” he stated.
Dr. Agyekum-Obeng made this known on the GTV Breakfast Show on September 13, 2023, while responding to issues about the leaked audio tape concerning the removal of the Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare from office.
