The Member of Parliament for Nsawam Adoagyiri, Mr. Frank Annoh-Dompreh, says he has nothing to do with the pulling down of a billboard poster of NPP Flag Bearer Aspirant, Mr. Ken Agyapong at Nsawam.
Mr. Dompreh who is also the Majority Chief Whip in Parliament, said his checks have revealed that the act was carried out by owners of the BillBoard.
A few days ago, the campaign team of Mr. Agyapong gave an ultimatum to Mr. Dompreh to replace a billboard he was alleged to have removed.
He has, however, denied the allegation and explained that he was in the USA for a conference when the incident happened.
Mr. Dompreh is therefore asking Mr. Agyapong’s campaign team to come out and clear the air after finding out the truth.
In Ghana, erecting, sitting, or hanging a billboard or signboard or painting a building or any open space for purposes of advertising within a particular area can only be authorized by the Municipal Assemblies.
Section 181 of the Local Governance Act, 2016 (Act 936) clearly states this Bye-law. Hence, individuals and organizations seek license from the Municipal Assemblies before putting up such space for advertising purposes.
Some later sell these spaces to clients for the display of advertisements.
