The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has once again declared Ghana’s former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, a wanted person. This comes after he failed to appear in person before the OSP, despite being directed to do so.
The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, said at a press conference on Monday, June 2, 2025, that Mr. Ofori-Atta has repeatedly delayed and refused to cooperate with criminal investigations. “We want him here physically. We have indulged him for long, and it ends here,” Mr. Agyebeng stated firmly.
Mr. Ofori-Atta had earlier requested to meet the OSP virtually due to medical treatment he is receiving outside the country in a letter dated May 28, 2025. His lawyers provided medical documents to support his request, which were also sent to the Human Rights Court.
But the OSP insists that the former minister must appear in person to answer questions related to serious allegations, including money laundering and causing financial loss to the state.
With this latest move, Mr. Ofori-Atta is officially back on the OSP’s list of wanted persons. Authorities say international steps may follow, including the possibility of an INTERPOL Red Notice.
